Cheeseburger pie recipe for a nice hamburger pie

This cheeseburger pie recipe is for the cheeseburger lover and the pie lover. No more fighting over what to have for dinner.

Serve this cheeseburger pie with mashed potatoes or fries. It is an ideal dish to prepare when you have guests over or for a special occasion. It will certainly be the center of attraction.

Cheeseburger Pie

Ingredients for the crust
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    2 tablespoons shortening
    3 tablespoons milk
    3 tablespoons butter
    1.5 teaspoon salt
Ingredients for the filling
    3/4 cup chopped onion
    1 pound lean ground meat
    4 eggs slightly beaten
    1.5 to 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
    1.5 cup milk
    1.5 teaspoon oregano
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1 cup pizza or spaghetti sauce
    1 tablespoon salt

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degree F.
  2. To make the pie crust, take a mixing bowl and sift in the flour and salt
  3. Add the shortening and butter and rub lightly till it looks like coarse meal
  4. Add the milk a little at a time and stir with a fork till the dough start to come together
  5. Take the dough out of the bowl onto a cool smooth surface and roll into a circle
  6. Lay in onto a baking sheet and fold all along the edge to form a high standing crust
  7. Use a fork and prick the crust in different places
  8. Bake the pie crust at 450 degrees for about 8-10 minutes till slightly brown
  9. Now for the filling. Heat some oil in a large skillet or frying pan on medium heat
  10. Add the beef and onion and fry till brown
  11. Take a mixing bowl and mix the eggs with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, milk, oregano, salt and pepper well
  12. Remove the pie crust from the oven after it is ready
  13. Spoon the mixture on to the crust and spread out evenly
  14. Lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees F. and bake the pie for about 40-45 minutes
  15. When done, spread the pizza sauce over the pie and bake again for 10 minutes
  16. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese over the pie
  17. Cut the pie into wedges and serve
