Among the more varied and diverse burgers are those that are made with rich meats and ingredients, from turkey burgers to lamb burgers and the like, right through to those using game.

The beautiful, rich flavors provided by any choice of venison burger recipe will surely be one for those who like their meat lean and powerful, for this is a meat that is quite like no other. Beautifully flavored and superbly textured, venison is one of those meats that lends itself perfectly to a burger, yet it must be treated with care in order to get it just right.

Given its lean nature venison can easily become very dry when cooked, and not only in burger form! For this reason it is best to add a little milk or cream to a venison burger recipe and to keep a close eye on the cooking process. This should, of course, be broiled in a skillet over a low heat or grilled, preferably in an outdoor grill, but be careful not to lose the tender taste of the meat, one that you do not want to miss.

One neat touch in many recipes is that of adding a touch of mustard - Dijon is favoured by some, traditional English mustard by others - and while this can be a very nice addition to all burgers it is particularly worthy when dealing with venison as it adds a great tang to the flavors you get from the meat.

Choose your ingredients wisely - garlic is almost essential with game such as this and onions are part of a burgers DNA - and use herbs sparingly, for it is the overwhelming flavors that you get from the beautifully cooked meat that should be the crowning glory of any venison burger recipe.
